Discussion Topic:  New Worries About 5G Technology And Cell Phone Towers:  Scientists Are Raising The Alarm About Safety

Moderator: John Pope

Huawei Corporation is a leading global information and communications technology provider which is planning to introduce 5G technology to enhance our speed and ease of cell phone and wifi communications.  5G is a major change because it increases the power of the radio frequency radiation coming from local cell towers by 5 – 10 times.  While ‘non-ionizing’ radiation has been considered safe, there are serious new warnings from the scientific community about its safety.

In 2015, Electromagnetic Field [EMF] Scientists called for protection from non-ionizing electromagnetic field exposure.  This appeal was sent to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, The World Health Organization, and to all U.N. Member Nations including Canada.  It was re-submitted in January 1 of this year with updated information: https://emfscientist.org/index.php/emf-scientist-appeal

Not only has this been under-reported by the mainstream media, but generally ignored by all the recipients of this appeal, including Canada.

Contrary to the EMF scientists’ appeal, here is the introductory statement from the Radiation Safety Institute of Canada: https://radiationsafety.ca/resources/factsheets/information-on-emf/  “We have compiled information for you on this topic from the World Health Organization, Health Canada, and the Health Physics Society. As you will see, these experts all agree that if there are adverse health effects to be expected from EMF, they are very small.”

Some background information is needed for non-scientists to understand the implications: Non-ionizing EMF radiation is radiation which does not change the basic structure of atoms or molecules it passes through (does not dislodge an electron).  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-ionizing_radiation

Radio waves, microwaves and infra-red light are non-ionizing, but although it doesn’t change atoms or molecules, it ‘shakes or vibrates’ molecules in the body, and studies show that it does have health risks depending on the strength of the signal.  (X-rays, gamma rays, and other waves from radioactive materials are ionizing, and have a higher frequency and shorter wavelength than non-ionizing radiation.  These waves have many technical uses, but they are a definite health hazard.)
5G technology will bring in much stronger cell tower EMF radiation.  “5G cell towers are more dangerous than other cell towers for two main reasons. First, compared to earlier versions, 5G is ultra high frequency and ultra high intensity. 1G, 2G, 3G and 4G use between 1 to 5 gigahertz frequency. 5G uses between 24 to 90 gigahertz frequency. Within the RF Radiation portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, the higher the frequency the more dangerous it is to living organisms.”  https://www.radiationhealthrisks.com/5g-cell-towers-dangerous/

For a better understanding, Google search – ‘5G radiation risks’ for more references.

Our discussion will focus on the implications of 5G technology, and its accompanying risks.QUESTIONS

Why has this been under-reported by the mainstream media?

What can be done to protect people from high-intensity EMF radiation?

Is it too late to stop the introduction of 5G technology in Canada?

How important are faster, and more convenient information downloads?

How do we Humanists, who depend on information from the scientific community, deal with contradicting opinions from scientific experts?
